Ex-president of Moldova Dodon was released from house arrest in the "ball" case

The former president of Moldova, the honorary chairman of the Party of Socialists Ihori Dodon, was transferred from house arrest to judicial control.

As NewsMaker reports, this decision was made by the Supreme Judicial Chamber on Friday.

Ihor Dodon has been under house arrest since May 26 in connection with the so-called "ball" case - so named because of a video recording of Dodon receiving a black package from the former "lord of Moldova", oligarch and Democratic Party leader Vlad Plahotniuk .

On October 6, the prosecutor's office announced the completion of the investigation, and on October 17, the trial of the case began. According to prosecutors, Dodon received from Plahotniuk from 600,000 to one million US dollars, the funds were to be used for the party's expenses.

Dodon rejects the accusations and calls the case political.
