Georgia and Azerbaijan exchanged greetings in connection with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev. She expressed confidence that "Georgia and Azerbaijan will make a great contribution to strengthening security and stability, as well as economic development not only in the region, but also at the global level."
"Like 30 years ago, when our countries took the first steps as independent and free states, today peace and stability on the planet are faced with great threats and challenges. The stability and security of our region is important from the point of view of overcoming these global challenges," Zurabishvili said.
Aliyev in the letter in response pointed to "the high level of interstate relations, the political dialogue is constantly expanding."
"Today, our cooperation in the economic, trade, energy, transport, humanitarian and other spheres is an important factor characterizing our strategic partnership. We attach great importance to our ties with friendly Georgia and are determined to deepen them further. I believe that there are good opportunities for the expansion and development of Azerbaijani-Georgian cooperation," the President of Azerbaijan noted.
Ilham Aliyev congratulated Georgian Prime Minister Iraklii Garibashvili on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The heads of government of the two countries also exchanged greetings. In addition, the Georgian Prime Minister posted congratulations on the social network. He stated that Georgia is proud of its close friendship and strategic partnership with Azerbaijan.
"I congratulate the government of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. We have achieved a lot together! Georgia is proud of close friendship and strategic partnership with Azerbaijan! We hope for the continuation of regional cooperation for the purpose of peace and well-being!", wrote Garibashvili.
