All but one of the EU member states agreed on the need to introduce additional sanctions against Russia during a discussion of the issue at a meeting of foreign ministers on Monday.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Rastislav Kacher, writes Euractiv.

Today, eight sanctions packages have been completed, and the ninth package is still in the early stages of development.

Kacher explained that the foreign ministers studied only the readiness of the member states to promote sanctions and did not talk about their content.

Kacher did not say which country opposes the sanctions. But it is known that Hungary has been the most active opponent of sanctions in recent months, and Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has argued that the bloc should not insist on another package of sanctions.

Earlier in the mass media it was reported that irritation is growing among some EU countries due to the delay in the ninth package of sanctions against Russia.

According to unofficial information from EU diplomats, a new draft of sanctions was to be presented in mid-November. However, its preparation is delayed.

This is a joint proposal on sanctions put forward by the Baltic states and Poland in October. The document included a ban on nuclear cooperation and the import of Russian diamonds; the ban on the export of all drones to Russia - in particular. the cheapest, civilian ones; banning the sale of real estate to Russians.
