Putin signed a decree according to which persons with foreign citizenship can be called up to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree by which Russian citizens who also have foreign citizenship or a residence permit abroad can be drafted into the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The document was published on the legal portal of Russia.

 According to the new version of the document, military service under conscription is carried out by "soldiers, sailors, sergeants, foremen who are citizens of the Russian Federation, including those who have the citizenship (citizenship) of a foreign state or a residence permit or other document confirming the right to permanent residence of a citizen on the territory of a foreign state," the document states.

 The decree also prohibits citizens who have been subject to administrative punishment for drug use within a year to sign a contract for service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
