The ex-president of Georgia, Mykhailo Saakashvili, has been diagnosed with more than 30 diagnoses, including dementia and tuberculosis. This was reported by his lawyer Shalva Khachapuridze on Georgian Times, reports newposts.ge.

"Dementia is not one, but one of the list of diagnoses that Mykhailo Saakashvili has. Today he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. I received the answer about his tuberculosis an hour ago from the German doctors. (…) He doesn't even know about it yet, this is the first time I'm saying it publicly," he said.

Before that, Khachapuridze told Interpressnews that, according to research, Saakashvili is suspected of having about 34 diseases.

"These are tentative diagnoses that have not yet been definitively established, we are waiting. These are suspicions, and work is underway in this direction," he said.

At the same time, the Georgian Minister of Justice, Rati Bregadze, called any speculation on this issue unethical and refused the preliminary assessments.

"All speculations about the state of health are, to put it mildly, unethical. There are all the conditions created by the state so that his health is protected and his corresponding right is ensured. He is in the appropriate clinic," Minister Mtavari Arhi said.

The politician has been imprisoned since his arrest after secretly returning to Georgia on the eve of local elections in the fall of 2021. He has now been transferred to the Vivamedi clinic.
