The United States and the European Union agreed to continue helping Ukraine and Moldova in the energy sector, according to a joint statement following the meeting of the US-EU working group on energy security.
"The EU and the United States will continue to work together to provide emergency energy assistance to Ukraine and to support other hard-hit countries in the region, such as Moldova, which are facing the serious consequences of Russia's actions to use energy as a weapon," the White House said in a statement. The meeting participants from the EU and the USA, as stated, "condemned Russia's unprovoked aggression against Ukraine and Russia's repeated attacks on civilian energy and electrical infrastructure, as well as the humanitarian risks caused by these attacks."
The working group also discussed the implementation of the joint statement of Presidents Joe Biden and Ursula von der Leyen from March 25, aimed at diversifying the supply of natural gas to the EU and reducing demand and consumption of natural gas.
