A bloc of right-wing parties led by former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wins early parliamentary elections in Israel.
This is reported by DW.
Based on the results of processing 97% of the ballots, Netanyahu's right-wing religious camp receives the majority of seats in the Knesset - 65 out of 120, local media reported on Wednesday, November 2. According to preliminary data, the largest number of mandates - 32 - will go to the national-liberal party of the ex-prime minister "Likud".
In second place is the Yesh Atid party of current Prime Minister Yair Lapid, which will occupy 24 seats in the parliament. For Benjamin Netanyahu, the ultra-right party "Religious Zionism" of Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir will be of decisive importance.
It is expected to receive 14 parliamentary seats and become the third largest party in the parliament. The far-right alliance allows Netanyahu to lead Israel's government again.
We will remind you that the turnout for early parliamentary elections in Israel was 71.3%, in total almost 5 million Israelis voted. This is the highest turnout since 2015.
