The heads of the defense ministries of Turkey and Russia, Hulusi Akar and Serhii Shoigu, held a telephone conversation on Monday dedicated to Moscow's suspension of participation in the "grain agreement". This is stated in the reports of the defense agencies.
The Russian side confirmed that Shoigu discussed with Akar the suspension of "implementation of agreements on the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports within the framework of the Black Sea grain initiative."
In turn, according to the Ministry of Defense of Turkey, the head of the department called on his Russian colleague to reconsider the decision.
"It is expected that the decision to suspend the grain supply initiative, which is a purely humanitarian activity that should be separated from the conditions of the conflict, will be reviewed," the agency quoted Hulusi Akara as saying.
