Russia, having announced the suspension of its participation in the "grain agreement", will not be able to guarantee the safety of shipping in the waters of Ukrainian ports. This was stated by the spokesman of the President of the Russian Federation Dmytro Peskov, rosZMI reports.
"In the conditions when Russia talks about the impossibility of guaranteeing the safety of shipping in the specified areas, of course, such an agreement is unlikely to be implemented, it takes on a different character, much more risky, dangerous and unguaranteed," the Kremlin representative said.
At the same time, he added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and other departments continue contacts with representatives of the UN and Turkey regarding "grain processing".
At the same time, Peskov did not name Moscow's conditions under which the Russian Federation is ready to restore the "grain agreement".
The press secretary also emphasized that "the Russian Federation is ready to compensate for the volume of grain supplies to the poorest countries that are lost due to the termination of the agreements."
"Taking this opportunity, I would like to remind you that only a small share of all the grain supplied under this agreement went to the poorest countries, the rest went to non-poorest countries in Europe. How will we do it, this question is complex, not easy, it still needs to be worked out. For now, we can guarantee the readiness of the Russian side to compensate the lost volumes with its own funds," he said.
