Prime Minister Petro Fiala already visited the Ukrainian capital shortly after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In mid-March, together with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, he went to Kyiv, which Russian troops were trying to surround. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, then called this visit a decisive show of support for the country that was under attack.
