The Italian Parliament finally approved the government led by Maloney

The Italian Senate on Wednesday voted to approve the government of new Prime Minister Giorgia Maloney

 This is reported by ANSA.

115 senators voted for a vote of confidence in the new government, 79 spoke against it, five more abstained.

The vote was preceded by a debate in the Senate, where the future policies of the Maloney cabinet were discussed. They mainly concerned economic issues, but the new prime minister also talked about the war in Ukraine.

"I thank all the senators who spoke for a frank, respectful and, above all, thoughtful discussion," Maloney said at the end of the debate.

Since the new prime minister's government was already approved by the Chamber of Deputies (the lower house of the Italian parliament) on Tuesday, after the vote in the Senate, he is finally approved and can start work.

It will be recalled that on Saturday the leader of the "Brothers of Italy" George Maloney and the ministers of her government took the oath. A month after the elections, President Sergio Mattarella tasked the first female prime minister in the history of the republic to form a new government.
