The United States handed over the first NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine.
This was stated by Gregory Geiss, the head of the American company Raytheon Technologies, which produces systems, in an interview with CNBC.
"We recently delivered two NASAMS systems. We handed them over to the government a few weeks ago and today they are being deployed in Ukraine," Geis said.
According to him, these systems can shoot down both drones and ballistic missiles and aircraft.
Geis noted that Raytheon Technologies is also ready to provide more "advanced" Patriot air defense systems, but the US government has not yet made a decision on their transfer to Ukraine.
"So far, the government has only made a decision to supply NASAMS, but not Patriot. We are ready to supply Ukraine with everything it needs for defense and we are ready to do it as quickly as the government will allow us," he added.
