Day of Total Savings - a fan power outage is planned in Ukraine today

As a result of Russia's missile attacks on critical infrastructure of Ukraine, Ukrainians were urged to limit electricity supply so as not to overload the network. Otherwise, fan shutdowns are possible.

 Restoration of generating capacities of Ukraine

 According to Oleksandr Kharchenko, adviser to the Minister of Energy, as a result of the latest Russian missile strikes, about 40% of the total infrastructure and generating capacities in Ukraine were damaged. Some of the damage is quite serious.

 Kharchenko immediately noted that in Ukraine, not only emergency, but also planned outages are possible in order not to overload the network and simplify the process of restoring the destroyed infrastructure.

 After some time, a decision was made to introduce restrictions on electricity supply in Ukraine. Ukrainians were warned that if the call to minimize consumption is ignored, fan outages are possible throughout the country.

 As the Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko noted, it is necessary to minimize the use of electricity from 07:00 to 23:00.

 "This applies to residents of all regions of the country. If this is not done, you should prepare for temporary shutdowns. Also, from tomorrow, the use of street lighting in cities will be restricted. These are forced steps. That's why we all work together on our front!", Tymoshenko added.

 Fan outages

 On October 20, power outages are possible in Ukraine from 07:00 to 22:00. To find out the details about the time and the locality in which the electricity supply can be turned off, you need to go to the link on the websites of network operators that publish announcements.

 It is noted that the outages will be alternating, and the duration is determined by oblenergo, but no more than 4 hours.

 "The weather is getting worse. Please make sure you have charged phones, power banks, water, flashlights and batteries by 07:00 tomorrow morning. Warm socks and blankets. Please let everyone know does not use social networks, so that they are also ready," Ukrenergo added.

 It was immediately stated that the outage would last no more than 4 hours for each customer. At the same time, they can be repeated during the day after 8 hours, if Ukrenergo does not cancel the application of stabilization shutdowns.

 Citizens were called to:

 turn on energy-consuming devices in turn;

 to reduce electricity consumption as much as possible in the evening from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.;

 business clients to limit the use of external lighting on the facades of offices, restaurants, and shopping centers.

 Ternopil and Mykolaiv

 Yesterday, October 19, residents of Ternopil and Mykolaiv were urged to stock up on water and food in case the lights go out.

 According to the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkovych, emergency crews and utility workers will work around the clock, but it is necessary to be ready for any events.

 Ternopil Mayor Serhiy Nadal asked people to stock up on water and keep their phones charged.

 "Today, the enemy once again attacked the infrastructure with rockets. Due to the heavy shelling, the equipment of power networks in the neighboring regions was damaged. An emergency power outage is possible," the mayors said in a message to the citizens.

 Sumy

 In Sumy, the situation turned out to be somewhat different. In the city, the mode of maximum saving of electric energy was introduced, and also warned about disconnection of water supply from 7 am to 11 pm.

 Also, electric transport will not operate in the city.

 "If we survive tomorrow (October 20, - ed.) in a normal mode and can save and reduce electricity consumption, this will give our energy system the opportunity to withstand and avoid fan shutdowns in the future," said the head of OVA, Dmytro Zhivytskyi.
