The President of Croatia wants to block the training of the Ukrainian military in the country as part of the EU mission

The President of Croatia, Zoran Milanovych, known for his sympathies with the Russian Federation, said that he opposes the training of the Ukrainian military on the territory of Croatia and will block such decisions.

This was reported by the "Balkansky Ogleklar" based on the materials of the Croatian mass media.

The other day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gordan Hrlich Radman confirmed that Croatia is among the countries that are ready to receive part of the Ukrainian military for training as part of the EU training mission.

Almost immediately after that, Milanović, who is also the supreme commander under Croatian law, spoke out against it.

"I don't support that idea because I don't support Croatia getting involved in this war any more than it should... As commander-in-chief, I won't agree to that. I haven't heard of this proposal, but I'll say in advance that I don't like it, it brings the war to Croatia," he declared.

According to Croatian law, the government approves the deployment of armed forces from allied countries, but must first obtain the president's approval. If the president does not sign the agreement, parliament can override the veto with a two-thirds majority.

We will remind you that on October 17, the Council of the EU adopted a decision on the creation of the EU mission for providing military assistance to Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) and another 500 million euros for weapons for Ukraine.

As noted by the Croatian media, Croatia will most likely offer its training experience in the field of tactical medicine, the creation of defensive fortifications, the installation of mine barriers and demining as part of the mission.
