The EU proposes to introduce the same sanctions against Belarus as against the Russian Federation - mass media

Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Ireland propose to introduce against Belarus all the sanctions that were applied against the Russian Federation. This is reported by PolskieRadio.

According to the publication, such an initiative to synchronize restrictions is included in the proposals for the ninth package of anti-Russian sanctions, which were sent to the European Commission by the five above-mentioned states.

At the same time, PolskieRadio notes that the issue of applying to Belarus all the sanctions that were used against the Russian Federation has been discussed in Brussels for some time. With the help of such an initiative, they want to hit the Belarusian economy as hard as possible, force the regime in Minsk to stop aid to Moscow and prevent Russians from circumventing sanctions.

Unanimous support for such a decision among EU member states is still in doubt.

Also, as the publication notes, five countries propose to include in the new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation a ban on the import of diamonds from Russia, a ban on the use of Kaspersky antivirus software in the EU, a ban on the sale of real estate to Russians, and the disconnection of the banks of the aggressor country from the SWIFT system.
