External power supply at the Zaporizhzhya NPP has been restored, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said.
"Our team at the ZNPP informed me that the external power supply has been restored," Grossi wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.
The external power supply of the NPP was disconnected, and the station staff uses backup diesel generators to perform tasks key to the safety of the NPP.
As a reminder, the Zaporizhzhya NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, with six VVER-1000 power units. At the moment, the plant does not produce electricity: the last reactor was shut down on September 11.
Our team at #Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant informed me this morning that the plant has lost all of its external power for the 2nd time in five days. Its back-up diesel generators are now providing electricity for its nuclear safety and security functions.
