The Verkhovna Rada today appointed a new head of the National Bank of Ukraine. The position was taken by the ex-head of Oschadbank Andriy Pishnyi.
This was reported by a source from the "Servant of the People" faction.
Information about the appointment is also confirmed by "Suspilne". Pishnyy replaced Kyril Shevchenko as head of the NBU, who was appointed in July 2020.
According to People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, 290 parliamentarians supported Pyshny's candidacy.

Motherland - 13 votes;
Confidence - 18 votes;
Platform for life and peace - 17 votes;
Restoration of Ukraine - 12 votes;
For the future - 6 votes;
Voice - 5 votes;
Non-factional - 7 votes;

What Pishnyi said and promised
Andrii Pishnyi addressed the Council during the meeting. He noted that he supports the restrictions introduced during the war, and also called the accounting rate of 25% adequate. Pishnyi emphasized that he would not predict the dollar exchange rate, but said that it corresponds to current economic realities. According to him, fluctuations in the market are caused by psychological elements.
At the same time, Pyshnyi said that he is ready to continue working with the IMF to cover the budget deficit, which requires more than 30 billion dollars. He promised to deal with the sale of NBU bonds.
What is known about the new head of the NBU
Andriy Pishnyi previously worked in the management of Ukreximbank, and since 2014 he has held the position of chairman of the board of Oschadbank. During his leadership, Oschadbank modernized branches, launched online banking, and the bank won a lawsuit against Russia's Sberbank to protect its trademark.
From 2007 to 2009, Pyshnyi held the post of Deputy Secretary of the National Security Council. In 2012, he became a People's Deputy from the Batkivshchyna party.
After the start of the full-scale war, Pyshnyi joined the international group "Yermak-McFaul" for the development of sanctions against Russia
