Britain named the defeat of Putin among its priorities in the new format of European cooperation

Great Britain called "ensuring the defeat of Putin" and reducing Europe's dependence on Russian energy resources as the first priorities it sees for itself in the new format of European cooperation - the European Political Community, the first summit of which is taking place on October 6 in Prague. The statement about this was published by the office of the Prime Minister Liz Truss after her arrival at the meeting place.

"Working with our allies and friends, we will ensure that Putin's war in Ukraine ends in failure, to end our dependence on energy resources; to strengthen the response to illegal migration," it said.

In her Times column on the new format, Liz Truss writes that these issues concern the whole continent, so it is right for Britain to work with European allies and friends on this.

"This is also the reason why we want to hear loudly (at this platform) the voices of countries that are not members of the EU - such as Ukraine, Norway, Switzerland. This meeting is not a construct of the EU and not an alternative to it, I am very clear about that." . It will unite the governments of countries from all over Europe, almost a third of which are not members of the EU. Post-Brexit Great Britain as an independent country outside the EU should join the discussions," says Liz Truss.

It will be recalled that the first meeting of the European Political Community, the concept of which was proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron in the spring, is starting in Prague. The meeting will be attended by 44 EU member states and candidate countries, including Turkey, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Great Britain, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
