President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy submitted to the Verkhovna Rada the candidacy of the former head of the Savings Bank Andriy Pyshny for the post of the head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

The relevant resolution was published on the website of the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday.

As reported, Pishny was mentioned as a possible candidate for the position of head of the NBU even before the start of the war, when the topic of a possible change of the head of the central bank arose several times. At the same time, the ex-head of Oschadbank was ready to compete for the position of head of Ukreximbank, but due to the war, the corresponding competition was canceled. In May of this year, Pyshnyi became an adviser to the chairman of the board of Oschadbank, and is also part of the Yermak-McFaul sanctions group.
