The Swedish special services completed the inspection in the area of the incidents with the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines and received additional confirmations in favor of the version about sabotage at the facilities, the Swedish State Security Service (SEPO) announced on Thursday.
"The investigation strengthened suspicions that a large-scale sabotage took place," the press release states.
Experts found that explosions occurred on both gas pipelines in the Swedish exclusive economic zone, which caused serious damage to the gas pipelines.
After the investigation was completed, the Swedish prosecutor filmed the perimeter around the area where the incidents happened. During the inspection, SEPO was supported by the Swedish Coast Guard, the armed forces and the police.
According to the press release, experts will further determine the possible circle of suspects.
