The Ministry of Culture has submitted documents for inclusion of Odesa in the UNESCO list

Ukraine is submitting a dossier for inclusion of Odesa in the main list of UNESCO's world cultural heritage under an accelerated procedure, Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko said.

 

 "We have prepared and are submitting a dossier for adding Odesa to the main list of UNESCO's world cultural heritage under an accelerated procedure. In 2022, Odesa found itself at the center of the war. Monuments of history and architecture, cultural heritage are under threat of destruction every day," he wrote in Telegram - channel

 

 According to the minister, the inclusion of Odesa in the main list of UNESCO's world cultural heritage guarantees significant international attention to its preservation and will allow better protection of the world's cultural heritage.

 

 It is emphasized that the nomination file was developed by the Odesa City Council in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, and now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will submit it for review and approval by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.

 

 "Ukraine is a part of the world's cultural heritage, an important and original part of it. And today the whole world must stand with us for its protection and preservation," concluded Tkachenko.
