Ukraine's official application to join NATO was able to formalize the dialogue regarding future membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to NATO Natalia Galibarenko during an online briefing.
"As for the specific plan of action, the ball is in NATO's court here, of course. Because after the application was officially submitted, now the member states must first discuss our application and express their position," Halibarenko said. .
The ambassador added that now the discussion about the future membership in NATO has acquired a formalized character. Previously, these were unofficial discussions, which representatives of Ukraine conducted on the sidelines, because such an issue was not officially raised.
"Now this discussion will take place within the framework of the North Atlantic Council at various levels," the ambassador added.
Already one of the first discussions should take place only at the level of ambassadors. It is possible that the second discussion will take place within the framework of the meeting of defense ministers during the Rammstein format on October 12-13. A meeting of NATO foreign ministers is planned for November.
