The administration of US President Joe Biden is unlikely to significantly change its approach to helping Ukraine fight against Russia, particularly with regard to ATACMS long-range missiles. This is reported by CNN sources.
According to their information, the United States is still rejecting some Ukrainian requests for the supply of weapons.
US officials, the publication writes, generally view Ukraine's recent momentum as evidence that the weapons and intelligence the West has provided Ukraine in recent months have been effective. Some caution that it is premature to call Ukraine's rapid progress in recent days a turning point in the war, warning that militarily Russia is far from exhausted.
CNN reports that officials do not believe the combat landscape has changed enough to warrant a dramatic shift in strategy in the short term, despite recent Ukrainian requests from lawmakers and the Pentagon for long-range missile systems and tanks.
"But for now, at least, the U.S. is still reluctant to provide Ukrainian forces with the Army's Long-Range Tactical Missile Systems, also known as ATACMS, which they have been asking for for months, officials told CNN," the publication said.
