The Kremlin on Bankova's security scheme: NATO's aspirations threaten Russia

Kremlin Speaker Dmytro Peskov said on Wednesday that Ukraine's ambitions to join NATO pose a threat to Russia's security. This is how he commented on the published Ukrainian draft documents on security guarantees, reports UP.

"No one hides that this document they mean before Ukraine's accession to NATO, that is, the benchmark for membership in NATO remains. Accordingly, the main threat to our country remains, and one of the reasons that made it necessary to hold a special military operation," Peskov said.

We will remind, on September 13, Bankova submitted recommendations regarding the security guarantees that Ukraine wants, which provide for the conclusion of one multilateral agreement and several bilateral agreements with guarantor countries.

The recommendations assume that Ukraine continues to seek NATO membership.
