Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney and his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielus Landsbergis are visiting Odesa on Wednesday.

This was reported by the Irish newspaper Independent.

"Minister Kovni crossed the Ukrainian border at the Palanka border post in Moldova on Wednesday morning and is to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, to receive information about the war and Ukrainian territorial gains in recent days," the message reads.

He will also receive an update on the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which has allowed exports of wheat, corn and oil to resume in recent weeks.

In addition to visiting the port of Odesa, the minister will board the ship, which is scheduled to depart on Wednesday evening.

Kovney's visit comes ahead of next week's UN General Assembly meeting in New York, where the UN Security Council is due to receive an update on food security and the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

In the coming weeks, Ireland will complete its two-year term as a member of the UN Security Council.

The head of the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania, Gabrielus Landsbergis, who visited Moldova before that, is also visiting Odesa.

Dmytro Kuleba will inform the Irish and Lithuanian delegations about the situation at Zaporizhzhya NPP.

It is expected that the three ministers will give a press conference in Odesa.
