Arms manufacturer Rheinmetall completely restored 16 Marder BMPs from old Bundeswehr stocks at its own expense. This was reported by the company at the request of the ARD channel.

The machines are ready to ship, but there is no export license from the federal government. Rheinmetall has already started repairing another 14 Marder.

If necessary, another 70 cars from warehouses can be used.

The German government has so far refused to allow the supply of Western-style BMPs and tanks to Ukraine, citing an alleged agreement with other partner countries that provide military support to Ukraine.

"No country has yet delivered Western-style armored personnel carriers or main battle tanks, and we have agreed with our partners that we will not do it alone," Federal Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht said on Monday.
