The USA fears that energy blackmail of the Russian Federation will weaken Ukraine's support in Europe - mass media

The United States believes that the energy blackmail launched by Russia against Europe is aimed at undermining support for Ukraine, so it is trying to support its allies by providing energy resources. This is stated in the material of CNN.

It is noted that the desire of Russian President Vladimir Putin to sow discord among US allies in Europe was one of the leading topics of Joe Biden's video meetings with the leaders of European states last Thursday.

According to the estimates of the American special services, the main priority for Russia is the split in Europe regarding the support of Ukraine and the weakening of the West's determination to counter Russian aggression. Such risks are increasing with the increase in the cost of energy carriers in Europe and the related pro-Russian protests that have already taken place in some countries.

The suspension of gas supplies through the "Nord Stream" and Putin's recent statement that the Russian Federation will not supply energy carriers to "unfriendly" states are the next steps in Moscow's strategy to destabilize the situation in Europe, according to CNN sources in the White House and US intelligence.

However, so far the Kremlin's rhetoric has had the opposite effect - Europe is acting as a united front, and there is no question of weakening support for Ukraine. However, Washington is directing diplomatic efforts to provide allies with energy resources to cope with their shortfalls due to Russia's actions.

According to American intelligence, the most important factor that will reveal the effectiveness of the Kremlin's energy blackmail in the coming months will be the weather. If the winter turns out to be moderate, then the current gas reserves in Europe will be enough to get through it without interruption.
