The euro fell to its lowest level in 20 years

Since the beginning of the year, the European currency has continued to weaken against the dollar.

 The euro traded below $0.99 on Monday, September 5, as the European currency was hit by uncertainty in the European economy following Friday's announcement of a complete shutdown of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline by Russia's Gazprom.

 The euro fell 0.71% to $0.9883 by 5:45 a.m. GMT on Monday, its lowest since December 2002.

 Since the beginning of the year, the European currency has continued to weaken against the dollar.
