The EU considers Hungary a Trojan horse of Russia - Politico

Hungary supports pro-Russian ideas and leans towards the Kremlin in the war waged by Russia against Ukraine. That is why Budapest is considered a Trojan horse of Moscow in Europe. This is reported by Politico.

The publication's sources in European political circles claim that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is in favor of changing the course of the EU on the issue of the Russian-Ukrainian war. He declares that the West "should not focus on victory, but on peace negotiations."

European officials believe that Budapest is concerned only with its own interests. Considering the fact that in recent years there have been conflicts between Ukraine and Hungary, Orban's position is "closer to the Kremlin than to Kyiv."

According to interlocutors, Orbán needs to finance his "generous social policy" at the expense of European security. At the same time, EU political circles believe that the Hungarian government is behaving like a Russian and Chinese Trojan horse.

However, Orbán's policy is increasingly isolating Hungary in Europe. For example, Poland, which was until recently a close partner, now condemns its neighbor.
