The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium Khaja Lyabib visited the temporarily occupied Crimea in 2021, entering through the territory of Russia. She admitted that she violated the legislation of Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Lyabib noted that she visited Sevastopol last year as a journalist and documentary filmmaker.
"As a documentary film director, she embodied a project that demonstrated how Russia used culture as power and propaganda, and how artists could live under oppression during such a difficult historical period. She sincerely regrets that this visit took place under such circumstances," the statement reads. statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is noted that Lyabib has always defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, as well as the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as an integral part of our country.
The minister personally assured Ukrainians of her support and Belgium's readiness to contribute to the restoration of peace and the restoration of the state.
In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, congratulated Belgium on its sincere and faithful commitment to the issue of supporting the territorial integrity of our country and appreciated the contribution it makes to this end.
