Berbok proposes to stop the EU agreement with Russia on easing the visa regime

Germany offers the EU countries to suspend the agreement on the simplified visa regime with the Russian Federation. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Annalena Berbok, quoted by NDR.

According to her, the German government would like to act as a mediator in the dispute between the EU countries regarding the complete ban on entry for Russians.

"Europe needs to find a joint solution from different positions. My proposal is to suspend the agreement on the simplified issuance of visas, so that no more multi-year visas are issued," she said.

She also emphasized that in this case it would be possible to carefully check how close the applicant is to the Russian government.
