Ukraine will become one of the guarantors of energy security for Europe, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy assured, speaking on Monday via video link at the "Nordic Sea Shelf" conference in Norway.
"Together with Ukraine, you can prevent more price crises, we have a unique gas storage system near the EU border with a volume of more than 30 billion cubic meters," he said.
According to Zelenskiy, "we can be helped practically by using our gas storages. This season, we currently have a free volume of 15 billion cubic meters. Ukraine needs 3 billion additional reserves, and another 12 could be the gas needed in winter for the security of all of Europe." .
Zelenskiy also reminded that "Ukraine has significant deposits of natural gas. The Russian leadership wanted to steal this part of the national wealth from us. But we will not allow it to happen. We invite investors, contractors, and service companies to come to Ukraine for gas extraction."
According to him, "our gas fields can play the same stabilizing role for Europe as the fields in Norway."
