The US Ministry of Defense announced the signing of a contract with Raytheon Co. worth $182 million for the purchase of advanced NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems for Ukraine.

 "Raytheon Co., Tewksbury, Mass., has been awarded a $182,295,333 firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS)," the statement said.

 The Department of Defense notes that the complexes will be built in Massachusetts, "with an estimated completion date of August 23, 2024."

 The funds were allocated within the framework of the so-called "initiative to promote the security of Ukraine" implemented by Washington.

 Earlier it was reported that the USA announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of $2.98 billion. The package is designed for the long term. It will include six additional National Advanced Anti-Aircraft Missile Systems (NASAMS) with additional ammunition, 245,000 155 mm artillery ammunition, 65,000 120 mm mortar ammunition, up to 24 anti-aircraft Scan Eagle anti-aircraft systems, anti-drone systems VAMPIRE aircraft, laser-guided missile systems and training, maintenance and support funding.
