Ukraine has no right to lose the support of the communities and peoples of states all over the world and, thereby, to give in to Russia's initiative, said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
"Strength in the world depends on us. I am sure that the fortress inside our state at the very beginning of the Russian invasion demonstrated to the world what it is like to be united. We are all united." Strength is the most important signal, and it cannot be lost. People always see him, they see him on the battlefield, they see that such a strong united state. And even the countries that did not fully support you feel a little ashamed, because they see that their societies supported us," Zelenskiy said during a briefing with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Kyiv.
As the head of state emphasized, it is very important for Ukraine in war conditions not to lose the support of these societies, at the same time, according to him, it will be difficult.
"I fully agree that it will be difficult because of Russia's information attacks on certain states and their societies. It is difficult even to introduce the eighth package of sanctions, because it already affects the politics of other states, first of all, the European Union. They are here, they understand what is happening. And you and I need their united position. It is a little more difficult here, although there are most states in the EU with a high moral position that support Ukraine," he said.
"That's why you can't relax, you can't freeze the conflict, you can't say: let's wait a year, two or three and then start talking. In no case can we give up the initiative of the Russian Federation: neither informational, nor because of energy risks, nor because of the heating season, nuclear blackmail, blocking the Black Sea, etc., Ukraine has no right to lose the initiative or give Europe the opportunity to lose the initiative," the president added.
According to him, today the whole world won the initiative in Russia. "Therefore, our victory in the war will be unification and the impossibility of losing the initiative," Zelenskiy summarized.
