In congratulating Ukraine on Independence Day, Lukashenko wished for a "peaceful sky"

Belarusian ruler Oleksandr Lukashenko congratulated Ukraine on Independence Day and wished a "peaceful sky" overhead, without mentioning the role of Belarus in Russia's war against Ukraine. The statement was posted on the website of the President of Belarus.

Lukashenko wished Ukrainians "a peaceful sky, tolerance, courage, strength and success in restoring a dignified life."

"I am convinced that today's contradictions will not be able to destroy the centuries-old foundation of sincere good-neighborly relations between the peoples of the two countries. Belarus will continue to advocate for the preservation of harmony, the development of friendly and mutually respectful contacts at all levels," the greeting reads.
