Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union will discuss visa restrictions for Russians on the war in Ukraine at the meeting on August 31.
The EC representative Antita Gipper stated about this, reports European Pravda.
"I would like to tell you that we will have an official meeting of the EU foreign ministers in Prague on August 31. Discussions there will also touch upon the issue of Russian visas traveling to the EU", - said the speaker.
She added that in the context of visa issues, the European Commission is asking for a coordinated response at the European Union level.
"Discussions are now taking place at the level of the EU and among member states to guarantee a coordinated approach... Based on the latest information we received from the member states, the military activity has not been completely discontinued, in particular, humanitarian cases are being assessed," the representative added.
She said that the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Elva Johansson, will visit Latvia and Finland in the first week of this month for further discussions on this topic.
The speaker also commented on Estonia's suspension of the validity of Schengen visas issued by the Baltic States. She noted that this is happening "in view of the unprecedented challenges we are facing - not only Ukraine, but also the member states.
Before that, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark Mr. Eppe Kofoed said that he hopes for a joint decision of the European Union to prohibit issuance of tourist visas to Russians.
Earlier, Finland decided to reduce the issuance of visas to Russians by 90% starting from September.
