In the European Union came into force a ban on imports of coal from Russia

An embargo on coal imports from Russia went into effect in the European Union on August 1. The measure was included in the fifth package of sanctions, which was adopted in early April 2022.

This is reported by the press service of the European Commission.

Prior to the adoption of the fifth package of sanctions, the European Union bought $8 billion worth of coal annually from companies from the Russian Federation.

Recall that the U.S. Treasury Department said that the limitation x price of Russian oil should come into force by December, at the same time as the introduction of the European Union restrictions on insurance of this commodity.
