Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has dismissed the heads of the Security Service of Ukraine in five regions - Sumy, Poltava, Zakarpattia, Zhytomyr and Dnipropetrovsk - as well as the deputy head of the SSU Volodymyr Horbenko, the decrees of 19 July on the presidential website say.
Thus, the President dismissed:
Volodymyr Gorbenko from the position of deputy chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine
Ruslan Hrygorenko as head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Sumy Region
Volodymyr Krasnyansky, as head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk region
Sergei Lysak from his post as head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Zhytomyr region
Ivan Rudnytsky from his post as head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region
Yevgeny Borzilov from the post of head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Poltava region
At the same time, Zelensky has already appointed a replacement for the heads of the SSU in five regions - Sumy, Poltava, Zakarpattia, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk:
Serhiy Lysak as head of the Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Dnepropetrovsk region
Yevgeny Borzilov as head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region
Ivan Rudnytskyi by the head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Poltava region
Eduard Fedorov, head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Sumy province
Oleksandr Kutsya as head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv region
At the same time, the new head of the Zhytomyr SSU has not yet been appointed.
On 18 July, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a resolution on the dismissal of Ivan Bakanov from the post of the head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Before that, Zelensky dismissed Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova and also dismissed the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov.
According to the head of state, such decisions were taken due to the recorded ties between employees of the Ukrainian security services and the Russian special services and an array of crimes against the foundations of the state's national security.
