A 45-year-old British humanitarian worker, Paul Ury, who was captured by the militants of the so-called "DPR," died allegedly due to illness. This was reported by Sky News.
According to information received by his family from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Paul Urie died five days ago.
Yuri was captured at a checkpoint near Zaporizhzhya on April 25 along with 22-year-old Dylan Healy, a British volunteer. He was charged in the self-proclaimed "DNR" with committing "mercenary activities."
Daria Morozova, who serves as the so-called human rights commissioner in the "DPR," said on social media that Yuri suffered from diabetes and had respiratory, kidney, and cardiovascular problems.
She said that "despite the severity of the crime," Paul Yuri "was given appropriate medical care. However, given the diagnoses and stress, he died on July 10."
A British government spokeswoman said the Foreign Office was "urgently investigating" reports of Yuri's death, adding that "our thoughts are obviously with his family and friends."
Two other Britons and a Moroccan who were captured during the fighting for Ukraine were sentenced to death in occupied Donetsk, allegedly for mercenary activities.
