U.S. President Joe Biden is confident that Putin would have ordered his troops to move on if the West had stood by and not helped stop him in Ukraine. Biden said this in an interview with the AP news agency.
"I am convinced that if we let Putin go through, Russia go through, he will not stop," the U.S. president said.
Biden added that he initially warned Americans: helping Ukraine would be expensive.
"I made it clear that helping Ukraine and organizing NATO to help Ukraine that it would come at a cost. There would be a price to pay. But the option of doing nothing would be worse. If it did invade Ukraine, invade Ukraine, invade Belarus, where it is, and it posed a threat to NATO, it would all be even worse," Biden added.
He also added that if NATO countries had stood by, chaos in Europe would have begun.
"You would have seen the possibility that they keep moving. You've already seen what they're doing in Belarus. What would have happened in neighboring countries. You would have seen what would have happened in Poland and the Czech Republic and all the NATO members." Biden said.
He also stressed that Putin had hoped for the Finnishization of NATO, but instead he got "NATOization of Finland.
