French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz may benefit from a visit to Ukraine. It will probably change their attitude to the war.
Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz said this, reports "Polish Radio."
"We will see what effect this trip will have when it actually happens," he said.
According to Przydacz, European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen and EU diplomatic chief Josep Borrell were impressed by the visit to Ukraine. He stressed that at the beginning of the Russian invasion their position was ambiguous, but "after visiting Ukraine they understood what war is all about."
"Here I do not deceive myself: these three European leaders (Macron, Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, - ed.) will definitely change their attitude. Their attitude today is certainly different. We need to work so that they do not press Volodymyr Zelensky for any concessions. I don't understand why Ukraine should forgive Russia anything. Maybe some of the Western countries want to let Putin save face at his expense?", - he added.
As a reminder, it became known earlier that French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi are planning to come to Kyiv on June 16. This was reported by the Italian newspaper La Stampa.
The leaders of Germany, France and Italy are expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and reaffirm the support of the three largest EU countries.
This will be the first trip of Scholz, Macron and Draghi to Ukraine since the full-scale Russian invasion.
It should be noted that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has never been to Ukraine since the Russian invasion, for which he has been criticized.
