Dodon, suspected of treason, says preparations for "Moldova's annexation to Romania"

Igor Dodon, ex-president of Moldova, who is under house arrest and is suspected of treason and corruption, said that the current Moldovan authorities and "its foreign masters" are preparing for Moldova's annexation to Romania.

Dodon wrote about this on his page on Facebook.

Dodon said that Maia Sandu and "her external masters" are following the Ukrainian scenario, provoking deliberate destabilization in order to use Moldovans as "cannon fodder in a geopolitical battle."

"In fact, all these processes of armament and anti-Russian hysteria are arranged specifically to justify the presence of NATO troops on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The military and political annexation of our country to Romania is being prepared, with the rejection of neutrality," said Igor Dodon.

He noted that President Sandu and her party step by step ensure the "liquidation of the state", so he urged "every patriotic party" to mobilize its supporters morally and to be ready at any moment to come out to "defend the statehood and neutrality, and peace for our children".

Igor Dodon, the former pro-Russian president, is suspected in Moldova of betraying the fatherland. He is also accused of financing the party at the expense of organized crime and illegal enrichment.

On May 26, the court approved a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest for 30 days.

The Kremlin, commenting on Dodon's case, stated that it was concerned about the "persecution of supporters of friendly relations with Russia.
