Shmygal told how Ukraine will harvest

Ukraine is beginning to prepare for the war harvest. Among the main problems: the need to remove last year's grain and oilseeds, solving the problems with the storage of the new harvest and providing fuel.

This was stated by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal on Facebook.

"The sowing campaign, despite the unprecedented challenges, was carried out successfully. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, 75% of last year's areas have been sown," he wrote.

Shmygal said that now preparations for the harvest have begun, and said the main challenges that now confront the farmers:

First, the need to export the harvest. The Ministry of Infrastructure is developing measures to increase the capacity on the western border of Ukraine. Because of Russia's blocking of Ukrainian ports we have 23.5 million tons of grain and oilseeds.

Second, storage of the new harvest. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy is considering the possibility of organization of mobile storage facilities, taking into account international experience. It will allow Ukraine to increase storage capacity by 10-15 million tons.

Third, the provision of fuel for farmers.

"During the meeting, I gave instructions to the relevant ministries and VCA to provide the necessary amount of diesel fuel for the harvest season", - wrote Shmygal.

Sowing of spring grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine was completed by 75% of last year's indicators. Spring crops have been sown in 23 regions of Ukraine, except for Luhansk Region, almost the entire territory of which is subject to military operations.
