Exchange with Russia: Bodies of dead Azovstal defenders arrived in Kyiv

The bodies of the dead defenders of Azovstal, received as part of the exchange between Ukraine and Russia "160 to 160", arrived in Kiev. This was reported by the Association of the Families of the Defenders of Azovstal.

 

"Indeed, the bodies of the dead defenders of Azovstal have already arrived in Kiev. The patronage service of the "Azov" regiment met and together with doctors carried out an examination and description of the bodies. It is important to note that among the bodies of the dead one third were soldiers of the "Azov" regiment, the belonging of other bodies to different units is being clarified. Now forensic experts are working, which in terms of time, tentatively, may last up to three months," the report says.

 

Over time, the families of the dead will be called in for forensic examinations and identification procedures. The patronage service is now very busy, but keeps in touch with the Association of the Families of Defenders of Azovstal, with the relatives of the fallen fighters and will inform about the next steps later.

 

As noted, negotiations and resolution of organizational issues regarding the subsequent exchange of the bodies of the fallen heroes are ongoing.

 

The Ministry of Reintegration confirmed that on June 2 there was an exchange of the bodies of the fallen soldiers between Ukraine and Russia according to the "160 by 160" formula. Other details of the exchange were not reported.
