Wars are always unpredictable, but Putin could end it tomorrow - NATO Secretary General

Wars are always very unpredictable, but Russian President Vladimir Putin could end it tomorrow. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this in an interview with Spanish TVE, responding to a question about the possible duration of Russia's war against Ukraine.

"Wars are always very unpredictable. In fact, what we have seen now is that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not carry out his strategic plan, which was to take over Ukraine. His troops were forced to withdraw from (under) Kiev and northern Ukraine," the NATO Secretary General noted.

"At the same time, we see that Russia is slowly pushing into Donbass. What we see now is that there is a level of aggression and hostilities that has not been seen since World War II," Stoltenberg added.

The NATO secretary general also pointed out that this war "has already had consequences for our economy, partly because of the sanctions, but also because the war has raised food and energy prices." "These sanctions are linked to the war, and that's on top of pre-existing difficulties. It underscores how bad Putin's decisions about invading other countries are," he pointed out.

"At the same time, you should know that the way tomorrow can end this war with a sovereign country like Ukraine," Stoltenberg stressed.

According to him, NATO believes that it is necessary to continue to support Ukraine.
