EU explores the possibility of a naval mission to unblock Ukraine's exports

The EU will consider setting up a naval mission to free Ukrainian agricultural exports from the Russian blockade, the Spanish newspaper El Pais has reported.

This was reported by the Spanish publication El Pais.

It is noted that the summit of EU leaders in Brussels on Monday will consider the problem of growing hunger in the countries that depend on the export of agricultural products from Ukraine.

The EU is ready to mobilize all possible resources to facilitate the export of grain accumulated in Ukrainian elevators and ports. It is even discussing the possibility of launching a maritime mission to escort cargo ships from Ukraine through the mined Black Sea, where Russian ships and submarines are located.

In a draft summit conclusion, the EU "strongly condemns the destruction and misappropriation of Ukraine's agricultural products by Russia." The summit would ask Moscow to "lift the blockade of Ukrainian ports and allow the export of food products, including from Odesa."

According to sources, Brussels is considering launching a naval mission to ensure that grain can leave Ukrainian Odesa.

A naval operation to export Ukrainian grain is fraught with an excessive risk of possible military clashes with the Russian navy, the weekly said.
