The shutdown of the monopolist Artemsol enterprise due to hostilities has led to a shortage of salt in Ukraine. In the Odessa region it is proposed to start the development of other deposits.
This is reported by "RBC-Ukraine".
The deposit is located in the south of the Odesa region, between the lakes Katlabukh and China, and is considered almost inexhaustible - its reserves are estimated at 4 billion tons. This is enough for Ukraine for a couple of millennia.
Vladimir Kadurin, professor of the department of general geology of the Odesa National University named after I.I. Mechnikov, is sure that now it is necessary to develop the Izmailskoye field:
"It may well replace Artemovskoye and Slavyanskoye. If the situation in Soledar region will remain the same for a long time, we have to develop Izmail field. But mining will be difficult - the depth of occurrence of rock salt there is more than a hundred meters, we will have to dig deep mines, but it is a known practice," - said the scientist.
In addition, the shortage of salt in a single Odesa can be covered by the resumption of production at Kuyalnitsky estuary, stopped in 1931.
"The method is very simple. There is a lagoon, created back in the XVII century, there runs the rapa - the salt water of Kuyalnik. The lagoon is blocked, and after some time the sun evaporates water. However, in this way you can get salt only in summer, "- said Kadurin.
It is worth mentioning that the head of the Ukrainian Association of Trade Network Suppliers Alexei Doroshenko predicts that the salt deficit in Ukraine will be eliminated in the near future due to deliveries from European countries. Its prices will go up, but this will have almost no impact on the wallets of Ukrainians.
