Russian offensive in the Donbas has stalled, but the war may be long - Stoltenberg

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Russian offensive in Donbas has stalled, but this does not mean that Russia has abandoned its strategic objectives. He said this at a press conference Thursday in Copenhagen, UP reported.

"Russia has failed to achieve its strategic goals in Ukraine. It had to leave Kyiv and Kharkov and its surroundings, and the offensive in Donbas has stalled," the NATO secretary general said.

"But we do not believe, at the same time, that Moscow has abandoned its strategic goals, so we must be prepared for a long war, that this war will last a long time," he added.

NATO allies must be prepared to support Ukraine for a long period, he said.

"It is important not to speculate too much on this issue. Wars are always unpredictable, so we have to be ready," he said.
