In the German city of Bremerhaven there was a shooting in a gymnasium, as a result of which one person was seriously wounded.

This was reported by the newspaper Nord24.

According to the newspaper, the shots were heard by a pupil who was in the toilet and called the police. The students barricaded themselves in their classrooms.

At the time of the shooting, there were about 200 people in the gymnasium, which is much less than usual. There were no classes today and some students were having exams.

Police said on Twitter that they were conducting a massive operation and cordoned off the area around the school.

A police spokesman later confirmed that one person was seriously injured and is now in the hospital. A female employee of the gymnasium was injured.

Law enforcers managed to detain the suspect in the crime. The second attacker is likely to have escaped. However, information about the second attacker has not yet been officially confirmed.
