U.S. House of Representatives Approves $40 Billion Support Package for Ukraine

The US House of Representatives has approved a large-scale aid package providing support for Ukraine worth about 40bn dollars. The document was supported by 368 lawmakers, while 57 opposed it.

This is evidenced by the broadcasting of the US House of Representatives meeting.

It will now go to the Senate of Congress for consideration.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that after the House approved the package, the Senate would "take swift action" to approve it and send it to Biden for his signature.

The bill includes an increase in funding for the president's authority from the $5 billion originally requested by the Biden administration to $11 billion. Funding for the president's spending authority allows the administration to send military equipment and weapons from U.S. stocks. This was one of the main ways of providing military equipment to the Ukrainians on short notice.

Initially, the U.S. president requested $33 billion from Congress. But lawmakers intend to allocate an additional $3.4 billion for military aid and $3.4 billion for humanitarian issues.

Biden's original request of $33 billion for Ukraine was to be distributed as follows: $20.4 billion in military assistance, $8.5 billion in economic assistance and $3 billion for humanitarian issues and global food security.

Recall that the U.S. for the second time in history introduced the lend-lease. The law signed by Joe Biden will accelerate the delivery of military aid and help us to fight the invaders.

Earlier, Biden announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. According to him, our country will receive artillery ammunition, radars and other military equipment.

As Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President, noted, once the lend-lease becomes a reality for Ukraine, Russia should expect an embargo on its oil.
